I find that I am more interested in making a visually interesting surface and images than trying to create pieces that "read" as representation. I am in love with shape and pattern.

After each run through the press, I carve the block again and then print the next color. This process requires a balance between planning and spontaneity, as there is no way to go back once the cuts have been made.

I've started to use some woodcut techniques in my carved wood pieces. The idea of creating an image by taking away from a surface remains the same in my prints and my carvings.
